Position Scope:

 

Under the clinical supervision of the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant supports the rehab services offered within Mountains & Meadows Care Group (MMCG). The Rehabilitation Assistant reports directly to the Director of Rehab, Recreation, and Quality, and is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of staff Occupational Health and Safety initiatives, including staff training and support.

 

The Rehab Assistant must establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the residents and staff. Promote a person-centered care approach by encouraging residents to exercise freedom of choice, to participate in programs, and enhance independence.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Rehabilitation Assistant Course or acceptable equivalent

  • Long Term Care experience is an asset

  • Current Certification in CPR

  • Excellent verbal and written communications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to work within your scope of practice under the supervision of the OT/PT

  • Excellent time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision

  • Problem identification and problem resolution skills

  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability

  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to patient privacy

 

 

Working Conditions

  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.

  • Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel under all circumstances, which may be traumatic situations.

  • Physical ability to assist in the transfer and the support of residents.

  • Travel may be required.

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting patients.

 

Salary:

  • In accordance with NSGEU contract
