Position: Temporary Part Time 0.8 - 6-month term

Responsibilities

The Rehabilitative Care Worker (RCW) assists participants, in a safe and supportive manner, with all aspects of daily living including personal care and program participation.  The RCW also facilitates resident decision-making, skill development and independence, in accordance with residents’ goals, needs and care plan, that align with the current Remedy and Human Rights.  RCW supervises and assists with meals and snacks, clothing care, recreation activities, vocational programs and other activities as assigned.  The RCW performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Client Su[pports, or delegated representative(s).  He/she attends professional development opportunities and meetings as required. 

 

Qualifications and Assets

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a workload flowing from several directions

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team situation

  • Proven ability to adapt to flexible work practices

  • Current Core Competencies as required by Department of Community Services:

Ø  Fire & Life Safety

Ø  Personal Care

Ø  Individual Program Planning

Ø  Behaviour Supports

Ø  Medication Awareness

or willingness to obtain same within six (6) months of hire

  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR

  • Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Mandt training

  • Recent related job experience preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team situation

  • Proven ability to adapt to flexible work practices

 

Shifts – Normally consists of regularly scheduled 8 or12-hour shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends. Must be flexible with hours as they could change in line with the Remedy and participant transition to community.

Salary – As per CUPE collective agreement
