The CCA Lead supports the Nursing Department by being an active member of the Multidisciplinary Team to help coordinate resident care in accordance with the CCA’s Scope of Practice and Competency Framework. Care is to be provided in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Mountains and Meadows Care Group.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily coordination of the following duties as part of the broader Circle of Care:
· The CCA Lead is responsible for supporting Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs), Continuing Care Assistants In-Training (PCCAs), and Long-Terms Care Assistants (LTCAs) in the delivery of Activities of Daily Living for the residents including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, dressing, oral care, skin care, safe handling and mobility and mealtime assistance.
· The CCA Lead may be required to take an active role providing direct care to the residents on the neighborhoods during extenuating circumstances, for example during staffing shortages.
· The CCA Lead acts as a liaison with Admissions, Transfers and Discharges by performing the following tasks, but not limited to, organizing and labelling residents’ belongings, capturing up to date resident picture identifiers for the residents MAR, TAR, Bed, Identification card etc. Update picture during the annual IDC meeting.
· Attends and participates in multidisciplinary meetings within the organization.
· Attends in-service programs and other workshops when available to support professional growth and development.
· May be asked to sit on committees when required.
· Assists in the orientation of new employees Including CCAs, PCCAs, and LTCAs.
· The CCA Lead provides support and guidance to newly hired CCA’s, PCCA’s and LTCA’s.
· Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents, employees and visitors.
· Supports leadership with recruitment and retention.
· Supports new and ongoing professional development based on best practice guidelines for CCA’s.
· In collaboration with leadership helps to develop shift routines and daily operations of resident care.
· May be required to report to work during evening shifts, night shifts and weekends to support CCAs, CCAs-IT, LTCAs.
· Responsible for monitoring, ordering and distribution of nursing supplies/inventory.
· Works with Infection, Prevention and Control Designate to organize and maintain Personal Protective Equipment for Outbreak situations.
· Oversee the resident incontinence product program.
· Communicates within the nursing team to help problem solve.
· Works closely with leadership and completes audits as necessary.
· Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Registered with the Continuing Care Registry of Nova Scotia.
· Successful completion of an approved Continuing Care Assistant Course.
· Ability to work as a team member and foster collaborative relationships.
Alzheimer Disease and Related Care Course an asset
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES USED:
Usual nursing equipment and supplies as required for resident care.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Usual work environment is indoors.
· Pets and houseplants are part of the working environment.
· Mountain Lea Lodge provides services for adults who may have physical limitations, intellectual disabilities, mental health concerns or dementia who, from time to time when upset, may exhibit behaviors.
